Skipping Through Summer, One Event At A Time

IPSE Freelancer Awards

Every summer, we’re all left with a decision to make. We can sit back with a furrowed brow, scratch our heads, and ponder why the season is flying by so quickly. Or we can throw ourselves in amongst the bedlam and ride the summer wave, looking forward with our heads held up high.

We’ve been scribbling feverishly like always at Making You Content, but we’ve also been here, there, and everywhere to meet with brands from across the country. It’s been a month of productive discussion and quality communication, and, predictably, we’ve got a heck of a lot to tell you in this month’s roundup blog.

Mingling at our Manchester HQ

Anyone who stepped inside Binks Building for our welcome party back in June knows what a great venue it is for hosting gatherings. Last night, we were thrilled to kick off a new series of networking events with our fellow tenants BizWizUK, Linten Technologies and Ten IMC, in association with the FSB.

The inaugural ‘Mingle with Members’ proved to be a roaring success, with professionals from all over Manchester mingling in our generous downstairs space and enjoying drinks from our bar. It was a fantastic night, and we can’t wait for the next one to roll around on 31 August. Consider this your official invitation – we hope to see you there!

Tackling digital dust in Leeds

This week, we also popped over to Leeds, having been invited to share our ecommerce copywriting expertise at the Magento Leeds meetup. Kelly tackled the issue of digital DUST (duplicate URLs with similar text) – a huge problem for online retailers.

She thoroughly enjoyed contributing to an insightful debate about how ecommerce sites – and their developers – can balance volume and quality. Thanks to our client Pinpoint Designs for asking us along. You never fail to learn something when you’re surrounded by techies!

Networking in the Cloud…

Manchester Enterprise Group is one of our favourite networking events – a breakfast meeting hosted at the summit of the Manchester skyline in Cloud 23 on Deansgate. Each week, one member holds a 10-minute presentation about what they do and how they do it. This month, it was our turn.

The session triggered a stimulating discussion about the value of copywriting services for small business marketing, and led to us compiling the first issue of the MEG newsletter – which will now be released weekly.

If you’re looking to meet representatives of fast-growing businesses in Manchester, MEG is the place to be. The group meets every Thursday at 7am. More information and tickets are available here.

The summer might be whizzing by, but we can always make time for a catch up with our clients and friends. Want to learn more about our award-winning content agency in Manchester? Or have a project in mind? Get in touch with our copywriters on 0161 660 9206 or email [email protected] today.
